Writing articles that get traffic
I did a teleseminar for SpeakerNetNews last spring on one-page websites. I got a lot of questions on hiring a ghostwriter, contracts, etc.
There's a new product on the market from two friends of mine. They've adddressed every one of your questions - and then some! If you're serious about hiring someone to create content for you, I highly recommend it.

Keep in mind that search engines love content! That's one of the ways that sites attract the traffic. So whether you write articles yourself or hire someone else to write them, it's a great way to get more attention for your site.
When you're writing, be sure to use the keyword phrases that you want people to use to find you. For example, if you want to be listed under "Atlanta motivational speaker" use that phrase several times in your article on the web page.
When you link TO that page, use that same keyword phrase as the blue, underlined text (your anchor text) for the hyperlink. It's another indicator to the search engine that this page is about this keyword phrase.
Finally, name the page with that keyword search phrases. So instead of calling it article53.htm, name it Atlanta-motivational-speaker.htm (search engines see the dash character as a blank). That page name will exactly match the search phrase and you're more likely to show at the top of the page of results!
When you hire someone to write for you, give them these same rules. Tell them the keyword phrase you want the article to emphasize. Give them a length (300 to 700 words is good for an online article). And use the suggestions in http://www.tamertips.com/autoproducts.htm
You'll find your search engine rankings climbing and you'll enjoy editing more than writing!
