Is there any way to stop the spam from going out from ME?
It happened again today. I logged into my email account and had over 550 messages! Right away I knew something was up - after all, I typically only get about 300 per day. Since I'd already picked up my requisite 300 email messages, I knew this was bad news.
Sure enough. Someone sent out a nasty spam from one of my domains. And I was getting all the bounced messages.
This is not the first time this has happened. In fact, it happened last week.
But is there anything to do about it? According to my webmaster, there isn't. Anyone can send out a message from info@yourdomain.com. They just put it into the return address field. For them it's simple.
For me, it's more complicated. Not only do I need to clean out my inbox, but the implications can be serious. I might end up on a banned server list. I might make people (even some of my clients!) angry. Basically, there's no good news for me.
What to do? I don't know - other than to think positive thoughts and clean up the mess. Now if you have any other ideas - please let me know!

Is this why I am getting messages that read RE:your website a consern. When I try to read them or determine where they come from I run into a dead end.
This is so frustrating! I'm getting emails from me, to me, or from so business that is most likely an innocent bystander, but with my info on it. What will my subscribers think if they get this? I would love to un-plug all the spammers (and take away their toys)!
I learned about using a javascript instead of an e-mail link in the contact portion of your site. This will stop spammers from picking up your e-mail address.
I hope this helps some people.
Although using "info@yourdomain.com" is a handy thing so it is easy for customers to contact you, perhaps change it to something less used, like "moreinfo@yourdomain.com" ...
Then disable any catch-all addresses set up on your account. Make your links prominent and frequent for your contact page, and do not list your actual email address in text that can be picked up by email harvesters - use contact forms. If you truly want to post your email address, change it into an image and paste it on your page instead of typing it.
These things worked very well for me - I reduced the instances of spam to 20% within a week.
Hope that helps someone!
