Had any technical problems lately?
Hi, Jeanette Cates here with a special issue. Sometimes there are just too many things to keep track of - and I've had a few challenges this week. Let me explain.
I attended the Conference for the National Speakers Association over last weekend in Washington, DC. I presented Sunday morning on How to Be Your Own Internet Marketing Consultant. Things were going well.
Well - except for the BLIZZARD that hit the East Coast!
Naturally my flight was cancelled Sunday, so I rebooked for the same flight Monday - and settled into my warm hotel. The Metro was still working so a friend and I enjoyed some shopping and lunch at Union Station Monday before catching our flights.
We boarded the plane - and got the bad news. There was a mechanical problem. All 139 of us had to get off, claim our luggage and rebook a new flight - one person at a time. By the time I got to the counter - there was no way they could get me home Monday night. Natually, they paid for yet another hotel night.
I did finally get home Tuesday - but my suitcase was not so lucky. It arrived on Wednesday.
Now I don't know about you, but when I'm traveling I experience this strange problem of not being able to send email. I can surf and receive all 400 messages per day - but nothing leaves my inbox. That means that my communication is very limited. (BTW - I'm offering a reward to anyone who can fix the problem for me!)
Needless to say, by the time I got home I had tons of emails to go out. That's when it hit - my Outlook program declared itself Full. So I've spent the better part of the past 24 hours cleaning up emails, backing up files, etc.
You may ask - Why is she sharing these mundane details with me? I just want to let you know that *You are not alone!* Even The Technology Tamer herself has technical issues and challenges - and sometimes doesn't feel worthy of the title. (grinning)
And that brings me to my true point. As entrepreneurs we often work alone. When the challenges in our life creep up, as they seem to at critical times, we forget that everyone else has the same problems - they're just not talking about it.
So let me be the first to break the ice. And if you have challenges you'd like to share - just leave a comment on the blog. I assure you I'll be very sympathetic - and we may even come up with some solutions!
Till next time -
Jeanette

Hi,
I appreciate your sharing of your tech problems, Jeanette!
Sometimes I wonder if I am the only one in the internet marketing universe who takes forever to accomplish various kinds of process set ups, like building a website with a builder, or setting up and getting a new ezine going. I look back on these things and I recognize several things that help explain how long it takes: I am not a techie, I work alone and have to figure out everything myself so each task also involves a learning curve, I make mistakes and forget how I did that last time, I work on a Mac (and for a while, on an old one - caused lots of tech problems), and I don't always know where to go for answers. Does any of this sound familiar?
I am certainly thankful for ALL the help I've receive along the way from you, Jeanette. It's been major.
Cheers,
Jess
Thanks for sharing your frustrations, too. That's one of the issues we as entrepreneurs have - we try to do everything ourselves.
We actually think we're saving money. But when you look at it, how much faster could you work - how much more could you earn if you had others to help?
I'll be announcing a new mentoring program in a week or two that may help with the very issues you're facing. We've all had to go through the same learning curve, so I totally understand.
Again - thanks for sharing!
What if you switch to gmail? I can send you an invitation. You can read your email from anywhere, send it from anywhere and Google is wonderful at filtering out spam.
Also, they give you 2.5 gigabyte of memory: pretty difficult to get your mailbox full.
